          DISTRICT SPECIAL CLASS

In 2008 Elizabeth Park Schools welcomes Julie Carman as our Special Education teacher.

We have twelve students enrolled in our special class.   Students participate in all seven curriculum areas.  Modifications are made to the curriculum to cater for each child's learning and behavioural needs.  I strive to develop programs that are functional in nature - to teach skills that can be used in the wider community.

In week three, we began our swimming program at the Elizabeth Aquadome.

Students attend weekly lessons and participate in a comprehensive aquatics program.

Integration is also an integral part of my class program.

Once a week, we team up with a mainstream classto participate in a physical education lesson.  Some of our older students are involved in apeer reading program. 

 

This term we have been learning about AustralianAnimals.  We have focussed on animal classifications- mammals, amphibians, crustaceans, birds and reptiles.
