Information Computer Technology (ICT) is
a focus area at Elizabeth Park Schools.
COMPUTER
ROOM
In 2007 our
new computer room, funded by the Investing In Our Schools grants
scheme, was completed. The suite boasts thirty new
computers, a colour printer and a data projector for teachers to use
during lessons. Each class has access to the
computer room at least once a week with some classes using it two or
three times a week.
COMPUTERS
As well as having our new computer room, each
class also has two computers in their classroom. Some are set up in
corridors as pods whilst others are in the classroom. This gives
students more opportunities to access computers even if they are not
in the computer room. The library also has a pod of ten computers
for classes to use during library lessons and students to use at
lunchtime.
STUDENT
VOICE
Elizabeth Park Schools has a ICT Student Voice
committee. This is available to students in years six and
seven. Students have to apply to be on this committee and perform a
range of tasks. These tasks include being photographers for school
events, teaching other classes new computer skills, helping younger
classes in their computer lessons and looking after the computer
room.
SMART
BOARDS
At the
beginning of 2008 we had four Smart Boards installed across the
school with the intention of expanding this number in future years.
The boards have been spread out across the school to encourage
participation by as many students as possible. Teachers are using
them in their every day lessons and are finding that the students
are more willing to participate and engage in activities that are
done on the boards.
